The November match was certainly blessed with fine weather for once. This is the first match in November in memory that hasn't either been flooded out or at least raining. The unseasonably warm day brought out 39 shooters, which is a respectable turnout for any time of year.

There were four stages at our November match with little advantage to open class guns as our limited shooters proved by winning half the stages.

Stage one "your typical 28 round field course" was our biggest stage of all time, making reloads necessary for all. A pair of low ports with four assorted pieces of steel behind each slowed shooters down a bit, but ten close paper targets allowed some speed as Bill Bartash(open) at 20.15 seconds and Art McGinnis(ltd) at 23.58 seconds proved with their stage wins.

Stage two "your typical 18 round field course" proved much faster with only nine wide open paper targets shot through a couple of ports and a break in the walls. Bill Bartash was the open stage winner again with a 12.45 second run and the recently returned to IPSC Bob Shaffer showed his blazing speed in a 12 second flat limited run to win the
stage for limited.

Stage three "your typical 12 round speed shoot" really wasn't all that typical as shooters had to engage paper and steel then perform a mandatory reload, open a door and then engage targets inside the doorway strong hand only. Amazing how easy it is to shoot over a point blank target when you try to go too fast isn't it? Fast Freddie Fuller kept Bill Bartash from sweeping the open match by stealing this stage away from him with a 8.3 second run. Art McGinnis posted a second stage win here by shooting the stage in 8.7 seconds.

Stage four was the classifier "bang and clang" and Bob Shaffer bested the field again with a 3.07 second clean limited run on the four poppers and one paper target this course offered. Bill Bartash was close behind with a 3.15 second run.

Bill Bartash was the Open winner, Fred Fuller A open, Fred Baker B open, and John Migliaccio won C open.

Art McGinnis was the Limited winner, Bob Shaffer M ltd, Ralph Nussbaumer B ltd, Zach Teich C ltd, Mike Wilsynski D ltd, and Rich Banks won unclassified limited.

There was also a shotgun side match with 15 pounds of shot and six slugs being used in two separate stages. 19 shooters took place in the side match and this reinforces our intent to make side matches a regular part of the day next year. Howard Thompson was the winner with a Lewis payout also going to 6th Ralph Nussbaumer, 12th Jim Fort, and 18th Frank Miller.

With this match ending our 1999 season we would like to thank the competitors and workers who made this season another successful one at Izaak Walton. We look forward to the new millennium and the challenges of a new season. Have a nice holiday season, and don't let your guns get too rusty, we've got some new tricks for you next year!
